Actually, the only difference between the first Person and the other gods is that the first Person actually lived in history, and He was (and is) a God. I cannot say if the others are simply inventions, but I can say for sure they were no gods - they were “only human” (Agent Smith).
Er, sorry to break this to you but Buddha and Krishna were also The Son of God. Don’t believe me? Here’s a few quotes from the Gita by Krishna:
I am the beginning, middle and the end.
I am the Lord of all beings
He who worships me with devotion to none else is in me and I am also in him.
Among the priests, consider me the Chief.
I am the imperishable seed.
Three-fold is the gate to Hell which leads to the destruction of the Self.
Men hate in my manifest form, unaware of my higher existence as the Lord of all beings.
The Gita was written five hundred years before Jesus was born so you can discount any theories that Hindus plagiarized from Christianity.
So no, they weren’t “only human.” They were fully human and fully God.
Oh and please don’t dismiss Krishna’s words with that crazy “The Devil saw into the future and copied Jesus’ words!” theory. That’s too beneath me to even address.
Namaste.
